2020 Conference officially underway

May 15, 2014 by IFPRI

The 2020 Conference on "Building Resilience for Food and Nutrition Security" officially kicked off in Addis Ababa this morning with the first round of side events. The three-day event, which is being attended by more than 800 experts and practitioners from food, nutrition, health, agriculture, humanitarian, and related development sectors, aims to incorporate resilience into the post-2015 development agenda and improve policies, investments, and institutions to strengthen resilience so that food and nutrition security can be achieved for all.

We invite those who are unable to attend the conference join a wider discussion on how resilience-building efforts can be effectively designed, implemented, executed and measured by following our conference blog for updates as well as related social media channels and the #2020Resilience hashtag on Twitter. We also encourage you to check out the 2020 Knowledge Fair resources, featuring a series of videos, electronic posters and rapid-fire presentations. Lastly, you can test your knowledge on resilience by taking our interactive quiz.

The conference is very energetic with loads of knowledgeable people around the table. What is lacking though are the implications of an ageing population in 2020. Also the current status of HIV and if there is an impact on agriculture in Africa. Very little evidence presented on the impact of climate change on nutrition.
